Sauk Creek Sebastian
As the North American alpaca herd continues to grow at about 22 percent a year, the focus now is on breeding. However, fiber is its future. To obtain perfect conformation and the finest and densest fleece on its animals, Sauk Creek uses only the best herdsires in its breeding program. And now we have "criated" our own herdsire.
Dakota and Cassie produced two almost identical alpacas--a girl
and a boy. Sophie came first and collected her share of ribbons in the show ring. She now has a daughter, Sabrina, who is doing very well in her own right. In 2004, Sebastian came along and he has developed into Sauk Creek's premier herd sire traveling throughout the Midwest from spring through fall carrying on his father's legacy.
Dakota is an Emilio son born at Magical Farms, and he is now co-owned by Kinney Valley Alpacas and Dougherty Creek Farm Alpacas.
Sebastian, who has 11 blue ribbons and six color championships to his credit, has sired three colorful cria. We are anxiously awaiting the birth of several more this spring. Two of his cria will be competing at The Great Midwest Alpaca Festival April 26 & 27. Sebastian also will be featured in the Herdsire Showcase and a breeding to him has been donated to the silent auction.
We offer mobile breedings within a 150-mile radius of Madison, Wisconsin, as well as driveby breedings. We also can accommodate visiting dams. Sebastian returns to Wisconsin on June 1 for a busy summer breeding schedule. Call today to arrange a date. |
